A look at the universe

Some astronomers were able to see an exploding star that had a "stellar explosion" also known as a Type 1 supernova. This explosion helped give insight into gravity, dark matter, and acceleration of the universe. They could see the light warp because of the gravity before it could reach earth. The light was magnified and multiplied by a process known as gravitational lensing.
This was the first gravitationally lensed Type 1 supernova ever seen. This task is hard to do because you have to find the supernova in time. Everything has to be aligned and timed correctly, some of it is luck. Scientist can use the lens to tell the distance the supernova is from earth by comparing the difference in lights.
Type 1 Supernova

It is still being analyzed to this day.
