Isaac Newton Laws of Motion




Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion: 
This law of motion is referred to as inertia. "An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same speed and  in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force."

What does this mean?
Objects naturally keep on doing what they are doing, if an object is in motion then it will stay in motion in the absence of an unbalanced force.
For example: The skater is skating down the street when in collides into a rock, in this case the rock is the unbalanced force. If the rock was not there than the skater would of kept skating. 

Isaac Newton's Second Law of Motion: 
"Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object).

What does this mean? 
It is a common fact that a heavier object requires more force to move the same distance than a lighter objects.

The second law of motion gives us a relationship between force, mass, and acceleration. This relationship can be expressed in an equation:


F=MA 

or 
FORCE= MASS(ACCELERATION)


Isaac Newton's Third Law of Motion:
"For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action." 

What does this mean? 
For every force there is a reaction force that is equal in size, but opposite in direction. 
The rocket pushes down on the ground and the reaction is that the ground pushed the rock upward with an equal force.
